Watch for new articles coming in the February and March issues of Fitness Management Magazine.  I just finished the March issue - it's a pro's vs. con's look at pre-choreographed vs. freestyle fitness programming.

This article was so much fun to write.  I emailed every group fitness director I know and got them to weigh in.  Then I interviewed David Spence, a national trainer for Les Mills and a 30 year instructor.  David is great.  He does a lot of team teaching with his instructing partner, Jan.  When you put them together it's like watching a morning show.  They are both true professionals.

David talked about his reaction to the pre-choreographed concept when he first heard of it.  Like most established freestyle instructors, he was against it.  Until he did it a few times and realized how freeing it is.  Now he trains instructors on how to teach pre-choreographed through Les Mills.

We also talked about the role of the individual instructor in a pre-choregraphed program.  Like me, he sees the need for the group fitness director to be fully on board and enthusiastic in order for a program like Les Mills to succeed in a club.

So that article will be out in March.  The February article is about online resources for your facility.  If you don't subscribe to Fitness Management it's a free publication.  Go to http://www.fitnessmanagement.com/.
