 Aquatic Exercise Movements

Ski (all levels, all sizes, vary the arms, long lever, short lever, traveling, arms in synch, etc, make very quick as if you were jumping rope to make this very cardio)

Run (all levels, all sizes, high knees w/ straight back (think Forrest Gump), hamstring curl run, tire runs (think football drills), sprint (think "Flashdance")

Jacks (all levels, all sizes, vary the arms, drag feet on pool floor, make very quick like land tempo to make this very cardio)

Hamstring curls - rebounding and wide, neutral dragging the foot on the floor as if you were scraping your shoe on the ground to clean it off (think speed skating),  change stance to narrow- both rebounding and neutral/scraping)

Running Man (hinge forward in a ski and don't let your back leg touch the pool floor). Again, speed this up for cardio, use bent arms with forearm facing up-big push forward with arms, neutral, scraping "gum off of your shoe")

Crab to shallow get low in the water, plie stance and do small "tire runs" while the arms are hitting a speed bag.

Russian Kicks Harder if done in shallow. Cue straight back and arms folded. (crab back to deeper water)

Kicks kick with heel, kick with toes pointed (water kicks), rebounding, neutral (think cement shoes on), kick in all directions, kick with both legs at the same time to front and to the side, short levers, long levers.

Arms bicep curls/tricep extensions, chest/back flies, dig in the water slow, dig fast (flurries...think jacuzzi), beat "bongo drums", clap cymbals.

Heel touches very slow and neutral, work the core, rebounding, very fast as if on the hot beach with no sandals on (very cardio), add a lot of rotation to this move, to make  it bigger.

Legs from jacks, go into suspended adductions (jack out, jump up and touch inner thighs/heels while suspended, and then jack out again) The higher the better! Same for abductions, suspend the "jack out" part"

Jumping rope front/back, side/side, high rebounding/low in the water. arms close to body/arms away from body

Tuck jumps high rebounding/ low in the water, LONG arms that push back behind you (think of trying to jump over a broom stick), concentrate on the tuck up portion/concentrate on the heels down portion.

Stomping This is a neutral march. Think of being on the top apartment with loud music being played in the apartment below you. Stomp with one foot/alternating feet/ both feet! (cue those with no shoes to be cautious)

Walking obviously traveling. "normal arms", arms out of water and just use legs, power walk (very short strides and "in your own world")
